50 Cent

Rapper 50 Cent "couldn't care less" about the Grammy Awards - because artists whose record companies spend money on the ceremony will be the ones who take home the trophies. The hip-hop star, who has been nominated for 13 Grammys but never won, has dismissed the upcoming 2010 prize-giving as the "Beyonce and Taylor Swift show", as both singers are nominated for three awards each. And 50 Cent is adamant the only way to win is to put on an expensive production at the January show. He tells MTV.com, "Man, f**k the Grammys! I couldn't care less about the Grammy Awards. "It'll be the Beyonce and Taylor Swift show. I guess they'll both be performing at the awards show, which means their record companies will be spending money to raise the production values of the entire show. And when you spend that kind of money you're supposed to get trophies." The In da Club hitmaker previously expressed his distaste for the Grammys at the 2004 ceremony when he stormed the stage after losing out on the Best New Artist award to Evanescence.
"I got to get her on a track, for real. We'd make a hit," added the rapper, who has caused head-scratching in the past by palling around with kitschy chabaret superstar Bette Midler. "Everyone is talking about her. ... She's got an amazing voice, and together we'd get everyone dancing. I'm always looking to do something new, and she's cool, so I'll ask somebody to let her know," said 50, who returned to his grittier, street-anthem roots on the just-released Before I Self-Destruct, which fell to #19 during its second week while Boyle notched a massive 701,000-copy debut.

Billy Corgan

Corgan hasn’t been in the news since he recruited a 19-year-old drummer but with the upcoming release of 'Smashing Pumpkins‘ new album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, there has been tons buzz going on for them musician. The news that sets Corgan apart from other album releases is that each track is ridiculously long, the band is releasing one song at a time. The first song, “A Song for a Son” was recently released and it’s one of 44 songs for this “album.” Eventually the album will be split into four different EPs each with 11 songs. “A Song for a Son” is currently available at Smashing Pumpkin’s official website, but the chatter doesn’t stop there. Corgan recently stopped by the MTV Newsroom to talk about why each song is so massive and how awesome Dave Navarro’s abs are. More after the jump!

Jessica Simpson has a new man - former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. The new couple has been rumored, and has since been photographed together. "She has fallen hard and is smitten," a source tells E! News, which reports that the 29-year-old romantically unlucky singer and Corgan, 42, are "officially dating." When reached by PEOPLE, a rep for Simpson would only say she doesn't comment on her client's personal life.

Tyler Perry

Willie Maxine Perry, who helped inspire the character Madea played by her movie producer son Tyler Perry, has died. She was 64. Tyler Perry announced her Tuesday death on his Web site, where he thanked fans for their prayers. He did not say where his mother died or anything about the cause. Perry's publicist, Keleigh Thomas, would not give further details Wednesday afternoon. Perry owes much of his popularity to his portrayal of Madea, a sharp-tongued, iron-willed Southern matriarch played by Perry in a padded suit and wig. She is the central character in films like "Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail," In an October interview, Perry told CBS' "60 Minutes" that the character is a celebration of strong black women who is based in part on his own mother. "Madea's a cross between my mother and my aunt — she's the type of grandmother that was on every corner when I was growing up," he said. "... She's a strong figure where I come from, in my part of the African American community." But the character has also earned criticism from some black community figures who argue Perry is reinforcing stereotypes of black women as overbearing, violent and brash. Film maker Spike Lee recently labeled Perry's TBS sitcoms and films "coonery." Arlene Barron, executive director at the Jewish Community Center in New Orleans, said Maxine Perry had worked there as a nursery school assistant for about 10 years from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s.
