In 2007, Winslet reunited with Leonardo DiCaprio to film Revolutionary Road in 2008. Directed by husband Sam Mendes, it was Winslet who suggested both to work with her on a film adaptation of the 1961 novel of the same name by Richard Yates after reading the script by Justin Haythe resulting in both "a blessing and an added pressure" on-set as it was her first opportunity to work with Mendes. Portraying a couple in a failing marriage in the 1950s, DiCaprio and Winslet watched period videos promoting life in the suburbs to prepare themselves for the film, which earned them favorable reviews. Her seventh nomination, Winslet was finally awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance.

Also released in fall 2008, the film competed much against Winslet's other project, a film adaptation of Bernhard Schlink's 1995 novel The Reader, directed by Stephen Daldry and featuring Ralph Fiennes and David Kross in supporting roles. Originally the first choice for her role, she was initially not able to take on the role due to a scheduling conflict with Revolutionary Road, and actress Nicole Kidman replaced her. A month after filming began, however, Kidman left the role due to her pregnancy, enabling Winslet to rejoin the film.

Sergei, a former Greco-Roman wrestling champion, had earned a Ph.D and was a professor at the University of Physical Culture and Sport in Moscow. Career prize money US$3,584,662

Sergei said: "We were young and we liked the clean, physical life, so Anna was in a good environment for sport from the beginning." The family name is spelled in Russian without an "o", so a direct translation would be "Kurnikova", and it is sometimes written that way. But it is pronounced "Kournikova", so the family chose that as their English spelling.

Kournikova entered the 1997 Australian Open as World No. 67. However, she lost in the first round to World No. 12 Amanda Coetzer 6–2, 6–2. She also partnered with Russian fellow Elena Likhovtseva at women's doubles event, but also lost in the first round, to eight seeds Chanda Rubin and Brenda Schultz-McCarthy 6–2, 6–3. Kournikova reached the second round at the Pacific Life Open; after beating Patricia Hy-Boulais in the first round 1–6, 6–1, 6–4, she lost to World No. 3 Anke Huber in the second round 3–6, 6–2, 6–2. In doubles, Kournikova and Likhovtseva beat the second seeds Larisa Neiland and Helena Suková in the second 7–5, 4–6, 6–3, before losing to Mary Joe Fernández and Chanda Rubin in the quartefinals 2–6, 6–4, 7–5. At Miami Open Kournikova defeated No. 12 Amanda Coetzer 6–1, 3–6, 6–3 in the second round, and No. 29 Katarina Studenikova 1–6, 6–4, 6–0 in the third, and then lost to No. 3 Jana Novotná 6–3, 6–4 in the fourth. She and Likhovtseva were beaten 6–4, 6–3 by Dominique Monami and Barbara Rittner in the first round of Miami doubles. After beating Shi-Ting Wang in the first round of Italian Open with 6–3, 6–4, Kournikova lost to Amanda Coetzer 6–2, 4–6, 6–1 in the second. However, she reached the semifinals partnering with Likhovtseva, after they defeated the first seeds Neiland and Suková 6(4)–7, 6–2, 7–5 in the second round, and Barbara Schett and Patty Schnyder 7–6(2), 6–4 in the third, before losing to the sixth seeds Mary Joe Fernández and Patricia Tarabini 7–6(5), 6–3.

Date of birth June 30, 1985 (1985-06-30) (age 24)
Place of birth Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Height 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in)
Weight 200 pounds (91 kg)
Second place: Michael Phelps was beaten by South African Darian Townsend in the 200m

At the 2005 World Aquatics Championships, Phelps won a total of six medals, 5 golds and one silver. At these Championships, Phelps decided to drop his pet events, the 400 m individual medley and the 200 m butterfly, and experiment with the 400 m freestyle and the 100 m freestyle. However, Phelps didn't make it past the preliminary heats in the 400 m freestyle and finished 18th overall with a time of 3:50.53. Later that day, in the 4×100 m freestyle relay, Phelps won his first gold in the Championships. Two days later, on July 26, Phelps won his second gold in the 200 m freestyle with a new American record time of 1:45.20, finishing ahead of Grant Hackett. Two days later, on July 28, Phelps finished 7th in the 100 m freestyle final. However, later that day, Phelps won his third gold in the 200 m individual medley. On July 29, Phelps, along with Ryan Lochte, Peter Vanderkaay and Klete Keller, won the gold in the 4×200 m freestyle relay with a time of 7:06.58. This was the fourth gold medal for Phelps. On July 30, Phelps swam in his last individual event, the 100 m butterfly. In the final, Phelps could not match the speed of Ian Crocker and had to settle for silver finishing 51.65 to 50.40. On July 31, Phelps earned his final gold medal when the United States team won the 4×100 m medley relay.

Phelps's dominance brought comparisons to former swimming great Mark Spitz, who won seven gold medals in the 1972 Summer Olympics, a world record. Phelps tied Mark Spitz's record of four gold medals won in individual events. Phelps had the chance to break Spitz's record of seven total gold medals in the 2004 Athens Olympics by competing in eight swimming events (five of which were individual events): the 200 m freestyle, the 100 m butterfly, the 200 m butterfly, the 200 m individual medley, the 400 m individual medley, the 4×100 m freestyle relay, 4×200 m freestyle relay, and the 4×100 m medley relay. However, his 4×100 m freestyle relay team only won the bronze medal, and he personally placed for bronze in the 200 m freestyle.

He co-founded the "Swim with the Stars" program, along with Ian Crocker and Lenny Krayzelburg, a program which promotes swimming and conducts camps for swimmers of all ages.

Born in Childress County, Texas, Dobbs was born the son of Frank Dobbs, a co-owner of a propane business, and Lydia Mae Hensley, a bookkeeper. When Dobbs was 12, his father's propane business failed and the family moved to Rupert, Idaho. He attended Minico High School in Minidoka County, where he played tackle on the football team and served as student body president. Although accepted at the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, he was persuaded by the staff at Minico High to apply to Harvard University, where he was accepted and earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1967.

On April 20, 1999, CNN was covering Clinton's speech in Littleton, Colorado, following the Columbine High School massacre. Dobbs ordered the producer to cut away from the speech and return to broadcast Moneyline. Dobbs was countermanded by Kaplan, who ordered CNN to return to the speech. Kaplan later said, "Tell me what journalistic reason there was not to cover the president at Columbine soon after the shootings? Everyone else was doing it." Dobbs announced on the air that "CNN President Rick Kaplan wants us to return to Littleton." A few days later, Dobbs announced that he was leaving the network to start Space.com, a website devoted to astronautical news. Dobbs was subsequently replaced as host of Moneyline by Willow Bay and Stuart Varney.
